This is a compilation from England that we appeared on. Featuring the song "Controversy" from our 1998 Demo, Assisting Sorrow are the only American band featured on this compilation.

Assisting Sorrow
Dead Zeppelin - "A Tribute To Led Zeppelin" Dwell Records

Okay, the Dead Zeppelin "A Tribute To Led Zeppelin" was Assisting Sorrow's 1st recording with a new line-up! When Jim, Jerry, & Mike quit the band, I was stuck in a shitty situation! Dwell had already asked us to be on this as well as the AC/DC Tribute & we said yes! I was very pressed for time with this project! I immediatly asked my brother Brian to play drums & asked my good friend Kenny Phelps from the band Dump Gang to handle the bass chores! As for a vocalist I asked ex-Dump Gang vocalist Derek Robinson cause I new his voice would work great for this project! We only had less than a month to learn, redo, disect & metalize these 2 songs! "Achilles' Last Stand" turned out really good despite it being a 10 minute long Epic! It's the 1st recording Assisting Sorrow did with a true melodic metal vocalist! Derek kicked ASS on this! Also it was Brian's 1st time ever recording in a studio! Despite the hell we went through, I am very proud of the end result for "Achilles' Last Stand"!
As a whole, this tribute was very dissapointing! A lot of the bands on here in my opinion seemed to do this tribute to Led Zeppelin as a joke! Brian & I are huge Zeppelin fans & we were honored to be a part of it! A couple of bands were very good though! VLADIMIRS kicked Ass with their version of "In The Light".

For Those About To Rock - "A Tribute To AC/DC" Dwell Records

In all honesty, I wish we never did For Those About To Rot "A Tribute to AC/DC"! It had a lot of potential & I do think we did a great job at redoing and making the song more metal, but the vocals really turn me off on this! Originally, Derek was singing this song very melodic & doomy much like Messiah Marcolin from Candlemass! I loved it! But he wasn't satisfied! The end result was him barking it out in the vein of CrowBar! I hate that style of vocals! But we were pressed for time so I just said fuck it! The rest of this CD is pretty much a joke as well!

Church Of The Devil - "A Tribute To King Diamond" Dwell Records

Church Of The Devil "A Tribute To King Diamond" was the 1st tribute release that the ever so trendy Dwell Records asked us to be a part of! We were very honored to say the least just to be asked to be a part of a Tribute to a band that has been such an influence on our music! So of course we said yes! Also it was some good exposure for our band! We were happy with the way this turned out! It was a challenge musically but we were pleased with the end result! Vocally it wasnt up to par but what do you expect! It's a damn King Diamond song! There was some conflict with the vocals between myself & our vocalist at the time Mike Barnes. I thought the song should have been sung all the way through but Mike thought it should have more growling parts! All in all I was very happy with the end result but the mixing of the vocals could've been alot better! Mikes vocals tracks ended up getting burried in the mix which Mike was not very happy about! Now the more I listen to it, I wish we did turn his vocals up more!
I really do feel that Dwell succeeded with this. HIghly Recommended.
